mbeancntr: (Novel writing)
I've been doing a lot of brainstorming for my NaNo project, including trying to find that perfect name. Mostly the reason is it helps get my mind of real life. I haven't opened my current novel since the morning of 9/12. I was doing some editing that morning, not getting too involved because as soon as Mom returned from the store, we were going to tend to my dad. She returned and a few hours later, my dad passed away. I don't know if I'm purposely avoiding my novel or if my heart's just not in it right now.

My life's been upside down lately, but slowly I'm trying to get it back into something that is normal. I don't know what normal will look like with the hole in my heart from missing my father, but we'll adapt. That's what we do.

Last night, I watched the finale of True Blood and couple episodes of Warehouse 13 and Dark Blue. I'm far behind, and then to pour salt in the wound, Fringe started last week. Ugh. Now I'm behind on my favorite show, as well as tonight's episode. One day I may get caught up. And then again, maybe not.

Since my muse is not being very sociable lately it's been allowing me to watch TV. I intend to watch some more tonight.

If it's not one thing, it's another. Right now, it's real life drama. Blah. I like to write drama and watch drama but not be physically a part of drama. The drama has semi-negatively affected my muse. She's not a fan of real life drama either.

Writing: I say semi because I'm at post-rescue and haven't moved forward. However, I've gone back to earlier chapters and added descriptions. My bar finally can be visualized now. Yay. I need to give my antagonists last names and descriptions. I have one in mind, courtesy of Koyla from the Stargate Atlantis years, but the other one, I haven't visualized yet, except he's young, mid-twenties - too young to have ruined his life, according to my protagonist.

Reading: I'm still reading Crossfire and it's still enjoyable. I used to read books in a couple of days but with the drama, household chores, and of course my own writing peaks and valleys, reading is a pastime that I don't get to indulge in as much. Anyway, the protagonist of the story has now had intimate relationships with the main male character, one of her ex-partners when she was on the police force, and a guy that could be a suspect not to mention she was divorced and went through an "out of control" state for a while. I learn through these examples what I don't want in my story. My characters have met - four years ago - but no intimacies occurred, other than they were both physically attracted to the other.

TV: I'm loving Warehouse 13, and Leverage debuted for their second season last night. I saw some of it and liked what I saw. I also have the first DVD from season one X-Files. I don't know about Dark Blue yet. I read some negatives but the review was still hopeful. I haven't watched the episode yet so I have no opinion.

I love my new layout.  Credit is in my profile.

I'm so happy tomorrow is Friday. Yay for almost the weekend.

I worked on the first part of my action scene but keep trying to figure out how the final showdown between my villain and my protagonist ends up. I have two theories, but my heart keeps telling me to go with the one. I just need to get it written and see how it flows.

Oh yeah, my male character got shot. He wasn't supposed to get shot. That was nowhere in my outline. At least it is a flesh wound and won't stop him from saving my protagonist. But still…Characters - Please, stop taking over my story. Thanks.

I saw that Sci-Fi changed their name to Syfy. What's amusing is some of the things I read on this change. The most humorous was "That wasn't an April Fools joke?"   I really don't have an opinion. I haven't watched anything on Sci-Fi in awhile, but I saw something about the new show Warehouse 13 so I programmed my DVR for the pilot episode, which re-airs tonight (I think) and saw the name change.

Speaking of new TV shows, I'm curious about Dark Blue, and of course, Leverage returns next week for its second season. True Blood has been keeping my interest too. I read that Sam is going to be explained more so that is exciting.

I finally got the Fringe widget to work on my livejournal, and I just added it to my profile at DW. This show is the one that I cannot wait for its return September 17.

UPS delivered my books I ordered.  FUN.  True Evil, One Scream Away, and the GI Joe: Rise of Cobra novelization.  There's also a GI Joe graphic novel in there.  Scarlett was on the cover - I had to buy it.

Back to writing.
